Sponsored by the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China and the U.S. Department of Energy and undertaken by the China Overseas Development Association, Solar Decathlon China (SDC) is an award-winning program that challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends consumer appeal and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.
Solar Decathlon (SD) was initiated by U.S. Department of Energy, which has cultivated tens of thousands of talented students as well as numerous enterprises in clean energy industry. Since 2002, the competition has found its arena successively in Europe, China, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. It is noted for being “the Olympic Games in Solar Energy” that has attracted 284 university teams and about 43,000 students.
SDC has been committed to build up an international educational platform that has a positive contribution to society. SDC will work together with five regional organizing committees from America, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa to carry out the Global Internship Initiative. The goal is to provide opportunities for youths of all nations to exploit and develop their own potentials, build their social network, and discover their individual goals and future development orientations.
Positions offered by SD Global Organizing Committees
SDC will work together with five regional organizing committees from America, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa to launch the “Global Internship Initiative”. Internationally, we will recruit and select outstanding university students as interns to fully engage in the planning, organizing, and implementation for the regional competitions. At the earlier stage of the internship, we will provide leadership trainings on project management, team cooperation, communication, etc. During the internship, interns can take positions in competition, site management, public visit, organizing, events, media, communication, etc. After the internship, interns will be provided assistance and support to work in large companies, international institutions, and SD organizing committees. We will also provide opportunities for those who aspire to study further to communicate with college professors.
Positions offered by SDC Cooperative Enterprises
SD will join hands with cooperative enterprises in the field of architecture, construction, and energy resources. Other possibilities include related industries such as Internet, electrical automation, IOT, real estate, IT, and clean-energy vehicles. Together we will help arrange professional internship posts and make training plans so as to afford opportunities of professional practice for SDC student decathletes.
SD Global Observers
Interns will be able to visit the world’s Solar Decathlon competitions, which includes: a comprehensive understanding of the competition, visits with guides, and person-to-person communication with international competing teams, sponsoring companies, and organizers.
